We had my family’s Christmas at my parents’ house this weekend. It was nice to see everybody, give some gifts, and eat some great food together! Quite honestly, I wish I could give more – maybe someday…
Anyway, I belive I’ve mentioned on here previously that we’re going to Disney for Christmas this year. As a surprise – thanks to a suggestion from my wonderful wife – my parents got me a “NASCAR ride-a-long” gift for Disney for my trip! That means I’ll get to go the race track at the Disney Sports Complex, put on a suit, and ride a few laps at 180 mph! When we first decided to go to Disney, I thought about getting this for myself, but decided not to so I could spend that money on other things for us when we’re there. I’m so looking forward to it! Plus, my parents also gave me some cash, which I turned into a new video card and the inevitable purchase of Dragons Age: Origins. I’m looking forward to getting into that, but I’m holding off tonight because I’m a bit under the weather. I don’t want to upgrade my video card with a “cloudy” head, so to speak. I’m thinking of trying to give myself an RPG night once a week, where I play for 5 hours or so once everyone’s in bed. We’ll see…
The kids had another great family Christmas, too. My son’s big ticket items were a gift card for Aeropostale, where he can buy jeans that are already stained and torn so he doesn’t have to do the work of ruining them himself (ha-ha), Mini-Ninjas for the Xbox 360, and some cash for Disney. My daughter’s big ticket items were a gift card for Justice (her favorite clothes store), an 8″ x 6″ pen pad for the computer so she can draw directly on the screen with a stylus instead of a mouse, and some cash for Disney. My wife got two of her favorite things – clothes and cash!
The kids and my wife have been that good, but I’m not sure about me. Family time is the most important thing, and I’m always impressed about how generous my parents are with us. Maybe that’s why I still feel like a kid at 38 years old!
